Autoclaves

Over the past 20 years Priorclave has established itself as the United Kingdom’s leading manufacturer of autoclaves, serving educational institutions, manufacturing, government facilities, and the specialized needs of the life sciences and food and beverage industries.  Priorclave North America is proud to finally bring these high-quality steam sterilizers to US customers and institutions.

The Cylindrical Advantage

All of the lab autoclaves offered by Priorclave North America have cylindrical pressure vessels.  Conventional rectangular pressure vessels are prone to stress cracks; these microscopic fractures sharply limit an autoclave’s working lifespan.  Cylinders naturally cope with extreme pressure better than rectangular vessels.  This geometric advantage means that cylindrical pressure vessels can be markedly lighter than similarly sized rectangular vessels (which also require redundant steel ribs to reinforce their unnatural shape).  The reduced mass of the cylindrical pressure vessel means that a Priorclave North America autoclave can sterilize an equivalent load faster than a comparable rectangular-vessel model, providing tremendous energy and water savings as well as greater lab productivity.

Although rectangular models are popular, it’s established that cylindrical vessels do a better job of sterilizing their loads: They come up to temperature and pressure more quickly, and circulate their steam much more effectively.  Rectangular vessel sterilizers invite overloading by inexperienced staff, particularly in educational and training environments, which can lead to unsterile loads.

In the end, a cylindrical pressure vessel means an autoclave that’s significantly lighter and more cost effective, with improved structural integrity and performance.

Three Classes of Autoclave

Every client wants a reliable sterilizer, but each needs that sterilizer to work within the constraints of a specific facility. Priorclave North America offers a wide range of units to suit any setting:

  1. Compact 40 or 60 liter front-loading benchtop autoclaves that fit any space, even the smallest training or start-up lab.
  2. Top-loading autoclaves, include floor units with capacities from 60 to 150 liters, suitable for working labs with heavy load cycles.
  3. Large front-loading floor units from 100 to 360 liters.  These can also be configured as pass-thru units appropriate to clean room environments or lab situations where it is vital to maintain absolute quarantine.

Priorclave North America recognizes that no two facilities are alike; if none of these units suits your facility, contact us to discuss what you need from your autoclave.

Standard and Optional Autoclave Equipment

We pride ourselves on the flexibility of our core design, which can easily be modified with many optional features and use-specific accessories: loading trolleys and hoists, expanded controller modules, enhanced cooling facilities, and more.

Every Priorclave sterilizer comes equipped with a Tactrol microprocessor control system, offering ease of use without sacrificing powerful programming capabilities.  The Tactrol system is one of the few controllers on the market with a permission-based door release safety system, ideal for educational and training settings.

Every Priorclave autoclave is finished with BioCote® powder coating.  This unique active finish inhibits the growth of all microorganisms, ranging from garden-variety molds and fungus to potentially lethal bacterial colonies, including multi-drug-resistant staph and other “superbugs.”

No other autoclave on the market offers this level of added safety and security.
